YOU NEED A CAPE VACATION

you need a cape vacation

Most of the songs that I've done recently have been Sinatra tunes from the Columbia years.   For more contemporary recordings of the same songs I listen to Diana Krall.

I listen to a lot of Jazz.  I take my piano voicings from Oscar Peterson,  I like the style of Wes Montgomery (for my leads - the octaves), i like Charlie Mingus too....

My ukulele arrangements are my own, but the music book I use is The Real Jazz Standards Fake Book (Hal Leonard) C edition, because this has a lot of what they call songs from the "American Songbook".  I play the songs in the key that is written in this book.  I find that this is almost in my range.

I do read music, studied it a bit as a kid and in college, I've played guitar, played rock guitar, and classical guitar, and piano, but recently the Ukulele has been the only voice that I listen too.  Recently I've been playing with a fretless bass guitar.  This is a new challenge.  It has helped in my understanding of my arrangments.

    Best wishes and keep watching.
